In recent years, with the continuous enhancement of global environmental awareness and the continuous advancement of the "dual carbon strategy", the manufacturing industry is undergoing a profound "green revolution". In this wave, gardening tool manufacturing, as a subdivision connecting green lifestyles and industrial design, has become one of the industries that feel the pressure and opportunities of change.
Most traditional gardening tools use metal and petrochemical plastics as the main raw materials. Although they have advantages in strength and cost control, the problems of high energy consumption and high pollution are also increasingly exposed. Today, with the rapid development of degradable materials, the concept of green manufacturing has gradually gained popularity, and garden tool suppliers/manufacturers are ushering in a key node for industrial upgrading.
In mature gardening markets such as Europe, the United States, and Japan, end users have significantly increased their attention to the environmental performance of products. The trend of green consumption is not only reflected in the consumer side, but also shows a strong orientation in the B-side procurement link. Many large retailers and gardening brands have begun to set up "environmental protection thresholds" and explicitly require their garden tool suppliers/manufacturers to provide products that meet sustainable development standards.
Biodegradable bio-based materials represented by PLA (polylactic acid), PBS (polybutylene succinate), PHA, etc. are gradually becoming the new favorites in the manufacture of gardening tools. Compared with traditional petroleum-based plastics, these materials have many advantages such as low carbon emissions, biodegradability, safety and non-toxicity, and are especially suitable for scenes with extremely high requirements for material safety, such as home gardening and parent-child gardening. Nowadays, garden tool manufacturers are not only boldly innovative in product styling, but also constantly exploring lightweight structure, modular functions and safety design.
If material innovation is the "power source" for the green transformation of gardening tools, then system innovation on the manufacturing side is the "propellant" for the upgrading of the entire industry. At present, many garden tool suppliers/manufacturers at home and abroad are embracing the new era of green manufacturing through equipment upgrades, production line transformation and management optimization. Due to the significant differences between biodegradable plastics and traditional materials in terms of molding temperature, fluidity, moisture sensitivity, etc., traditional injection molding and mold technology can no longer meet the needs of efficient production. Leading source factories have invested in introducing new injection molding equipment suitable for PLA/PBS, equipped with temperature control systems, precise temperature control of molds, high vacuum demoulding devices, etc., to improve product consistency and production yield.
In order to meet the differentiated demands of different markets for material performance, many garden tool manufacturers have begun to cooperate with material science research institutions and university laboratories to jointly develop "high strength + high degradation rate" gardening special materials. For example: adding rice husk fiber to PLA to improve impact resistance; integrating citrus pectin into PBS to improve UV aging resistance; using corn starch biotin to develop special plastics for children's gardening toys. These modification technologies directly improve the industrial adaptability of green materials and provide differentiated competitiveness for source manufacturers.
In the international market, the certification threshold for green gardening tool products is increasing, and more and more customers require garden tool suppliers to provide corresponding degradable or environmentally friendly certifications at the inquiry stage. Obtaining these certifications not only improves the international currency of products, but also helps manufacturers gain recognition and stable cooperation from international high-end customers.
